To launch our topic this term, Brilliant Bridges, we spent the day investigating different bridge structures and having a go at building our own.
In teams of 2 or 3, we were given £100 and had to design then build a bridge spanning a 30cm gap between two tables. A sheet of paper cost £1, sellotape was £10 and paperclips were £1 as well. A whole variety of bridge structures were built with varying degrees of success! Some were much stronger than others and some were too short to even span the gap reminding us how important it is to read the brief.
Here are some photos of the bridges we made. The winning team were Maddie and Kaicey who went for a simple but strong design. Their bridge held over 3KG of weight! Congratulations you two!
