Freeze Frames

In English, we have been looking at diaries and are working towards writing our own diary entries from the point of view of a Roman slave. This links to our Guided Reading text 'Roman Diary: The Journal of Iliona, Young Slave'. To help us with getting into character and considering their feelings, we were put into groups of 3 or 4 to create freeze frames of a slave being auctioned off. We had 1 or 2 people representing the slave, one person representing the seller of the slave and the last person representing the buyer of the slave. Because it was a freeze frame, we had to think about our facial expressions and body language to get across our feelings to the rest of the class and so they could work out what role we were playing. 

 

We came up with some interesting adjectives to describe the slave's feelings including humiliated, miserable, helpless and dejected. We cannot wait to use these words in our writing!
