We had a fantastic day of French language learning in Year 5. The children learnt basic greetings and how to say their name, and used this to act out simple conversations in French. We also learnt how to confidently pronounce numbers up to 10 in French, and the colours, which we used to label our own versions of Matisse's "L'escargot" picture. We played many different games to practise the numbers and colours and had lots of fun. Linking our French work to DT and Maths, the children also worked in groups to create their own Eiffel Towers, made out of spaghetti and marshmallows. It was a bit sticky... but the ideas, discussions and evaluations of the children were excellent.
