Hello Kingston Class!
It was lovely to see you all and hear all about your Christmas break. We definitely did not expect to hear the sad news that school will be closing but it is very important that we stay safe and positive about the future. We know how hard you have all worked and we are all very proud of how mature and resilient you have been this school year. We intend to make the home learning as close to normal as possible and each week we will be putting work onto our Class page, under Curriculum Activities. The work for the week will be on the website by 9am every Monday morning. We have designed a timetable, that you can view below, for you to follow at home where possible. This timetable is the same timetable that will be used within school.
Each morning, just as we do on a weekly basis, we will provide Maths and English work, alongside either Guided Reading or Spellings. There will be a wide variety of tasks to complete using worksheets, videos, flipcharts and links to help with these activities. The afternoon session will consist of the foundation subjects that we would normally do at school.
Once you have completed the tasks, please can you attach them to an email and send them to us at school using your class email address firstname.lastname@example.org. We are looking forward to seeing the work that you produce and to give you some feedback. Please remember that if you are unsure about anything and would like us to clarify something, feel free to e-mail me and I hope to respond as soon as possible.
Please look after yourselves and keep smiling!
This year, the theme for our class names is capital cities and as a class we decided on Kingston which is the capital city of Jamaica. Mr Moore is the Class teacher and Mrs Curtis is our LSA in Kingston class. We will regularly update this class page with some helpful pages and we hope that you decide to check regularly to see what we've been up to.
If you have any questions or concerns about anything happening this year or personal queries, feel free to message the office.
We look forward to our Year 5 Journey together and hope that there are lots of exciting things for the children to learn and explore!
Mr Moore and Mrs Curtis
This year our P.E day will be on a Tuesday, where we hope to accommodate an indoor and outdoor P.E session.
Please ensure that on the P.E days, children's hair is tied up and earrings have been taken out before they come into school.
This year World languages day will be a great opportunity for the children to learn a new language. With this is mind the children will learn 'Patois' and other Caribbean languages to explore a range of languages used in this part of the world. With this in mind it will enable the children to understand the similarities and differences between different cultures.
