Norwood Primary & Pre-School

Year 5

Welcome to Year 5!

At Norwood this year, we have chosen famous historical or scientific figures for our class names. In year 5, our class names this year are Anning and Curie after the famous paleontologist Mary Anning and influential scientist Marie Curie. We are looking forward to learning more about each figure throughout the academic year.

We will update this page regularly, so please make sure you pop back and have a look to see what we have been up to! We are really looking forward to getting to know your children!

If you have any concerns, please contact the school office and your class teacher will get back to you as soon as possible.

Some useful bits of information:

* Our indoor and outdoor PE sessions will both be on a Thursday this year. We are asking for children to come to school wearing their PE kits, with shorts underneath jogging bottoms and a dark jumper to keep them warm when necessary. Please make sure that hair is tied back on these days, and earrings and other jewellery has been removed.

A reminder that our school PE kit consists of a plain white t-shirt, with plain navy or black shorts, leggings or jogging bottoms and a plain navy or black jumper.

* Children will visit our school library on Monday (Anning Class) or Wednesday (Curie Class)Please read at home everyday and remember to complete your book marks so that you can achieve your bronze, silver and gold reading badges throughout the year. Don't forget that reading is everywhere, from books to road signs, from menus to subtitles on videos. All of these count as reading.

"The more you read, the more you know. The more you learn, the more places you will go." (Dr Seuss)

* We still have membership to the online times tables games at Times Tables Rock Stars and have reminded children of their login details.

* Spellings will be sent home on a Tuesday to be learnt and discussed before a spelling test the following Tuesday.
