Welcome to Year R
In Year R, our classes are named after the Wright Brothers: Orville Class and Wilbur Class. We will be learning about the Wright Brothers throughout the year.

Orville Wright (First) and Wilbur Wright (Second)
In Orville Class, our teacher is Mrs Rogers.
In Wilbur Class, our teacher is Mrs Stockwell.

We are very lucky to be supported by our learning support assistants, Mrs Coxon, Miss Daniels and Miss Armitage.
Mrs Patten also works in Year R on Thursdays, spending the morning with Orville Class and then the afternoon with Wilbur Class.
In Year R we enjoy exploring the different areas of our learning environment, both indoors and in our garden.
Our P.E. lessons take place on Wednesdays and they will be held in the hall during the Autumn term. Please send your child to school wearing their P.E. kit on Wednesdays. Please ensure that all earrings are removed and that long hair is tied back.
We will soon be starting visits to our Discovery Centre (on-site library) to explore the books. We will then be able to choose a book to borrow and read at home. We need to return our previous library book before we are able to borrow a new one.

Norwood BLP Learning Heroes
At Norwood we believe in giving children the strategies and skills to be able to work their way through a problem independently. Throughout the first term, we will be introducing each of the BLP (Building Learning Power) Learning Heroes who will each teach the children about a strategy or skill they can use to help them when they face a challenge.
Our first BLP Learning Hero that the children will learn about is the Determinator. He is the champion of maintaining a Growth Mindset and he never gives up!
