Inclusion

Rooted in our values of Aspiration, Belonging and Compassion, we are clear on how we ensure every child—regardless of need, background or circumstance—can access learning, participate fully in school life and achieve their best.

Inclusion at Norwood reflects the diversity of our community and encompasses pupils with SEND, pupils who are disadvantaged, and any child who may experience barriers to learning. Guided by Aspiration, we hold high expectations for all pupils and believe that inclusive, high-quality teaching benefits everyone.

Our inclusive practices support consistency and equity across classrooms and phases. They strengthen our collective understanding of what effective inclusion looks like in daily practice and reinforces a shared responsibility for fostering Belonging, where every child feels known, valued and included. We provide all staff at Norwood Primary & Pre-School with a shared language and consistent approach to inclusion, through the form of playbooks: a Teaching and Learning Playbook and an Inclusion Playbook. We know that our strongest impact comes from High Quality Inclusive Teaching, so we are crystal clear on what this looks like for all children but particularly our most vulnerable. We use adaptive teaching to remove barriers to learning and maintain high aspirations for every child. Teachers make purposeful adaptations to planning, teaching and resources, ensuring all pupils can access the curriculum.

Through a Compassionate and proactive approach, we ensure that inclusion is embedded in everyday practice and that all children are supported to flourish. Beyond our High Quality, Inclusive Teaching and Ordinarily Available Provision, we are proud to offer a range of inclusive practices that help to meet the needs of all our children. Take a look below at what we offer our children:
