Ethos, Vision and Values
Our Ethos
We take pride in offering a warm, welcoming and aspirational school which believes in nurturing every child as an individual. We provide an inspirational learning environment in a supportive and collaborative atmosphere where everyone is valued and respected.
Our Vision
‘Explore, Inspire, Achieve and Flourish’
‘Humanity owes to children the best it has to give.
Their life is fragile,
If they are to have a tomorrow
Their needs must be met today
Many things can wait
But not the children.
We cannot answer their tomorrow.
Their name is ‘today’.

Our Vision is to be an inspirational, creative and caring learning community which provides challenge for all by providing:
•A school which has children and learning at the heart of everything we do
•A school where moral, social, spiritual, and cultural development underpins academic achievement
•Inspirational learning opportunities which build skills for life
•An inclusive curriculum which provides a range of opportunities in which to participate and excel, within and beyond the school day
•A culture that enthuses and empowers everyone to extend their own learning
•A listening school where children and adults know their views are important, respected and acted upon
•A warm, positive environment where we value effort, recognise success and celebrate achievements at all levels
•A sense of team where all feel valued and respected
We believe that a curriculum which is not only broad and balanced but also bold and courageous is important for our children and the arts are especially important to us here at Norwood. We take inspiration from the painting ‘Future Man’ by Paul Klee as we want our children to go out into the future as strong, confident and colourful individuals who can achieve more than they ever thought possible.
Our Values
The core values of our school embody what we believe in and are the guiding principles that underpin our ethos and aims:
Respect Honesty Tolerance
Responsibility Inquisitiveness Aspiration
Perseverance Creativity Resilience
These values are at the heart of everything we do and enable us to put each child first within a set of clear boundaries. They enable us to encourage everyone within our community to take responsibility for their behaviours and attitudes. We actively promote democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. These fundamental British Values underpin all that we offer.
