Percy Norwood- our school hero.

Norwood was opened in 1977 as a Primary School, its name taken from local hero Percy Norwood who was awarded the Edward Medal for Gallantry by King George V after saving a man’s life on the railway lines at Liss in 1913.

The school takes much of its ethos from the unselfish act of this ordinary son of Eastleigh who showed the potential in everyone to help and care for their fellow citizens. Percy’s bravery is proudly remembered on our Norwood Day each year and his story is told in the form of a series of children's drawings, engraved into steel plates and set into brickwork outside the school, inspiring all who take the time to look.
